About Us
Established in 1986 by the Scottish Fishermen's Federation to provide a range of vessel and personnel services to the offshore industries.

Our goal is to provide a platform for fishing vessels to be used by offshore industries, offering a flexible solution and a cost-effective alternative to larger vessel hire. We currently have access to a pool of around 100 vessels of 15m and over, all around Scotland, with skippers and crews capable of providing local knowledge and an unrivalled response. A 24-hour Marine Coordination Team supports the provision of vessel services with over 37 years of experience in managing a range of simultaneous projects involving, at times, more than 30 vessels at sea.
Vessels provided are selected based on the geographical location of the guard site and time of year, with a minimum overall length of 15m and holding both a current Load Line Exemption Certificate and Guardship Stability Book Addendum. Additionally, vessels will have AIS (transmit and receive functions), ARPA Radar and a FishSAFE Unit installed. We ensure that the vessels used are compliant with the relevant legislation for their size and class and are inspected following our internal auditing process.
We can also provide experienced offshore personnel on board client vessels to assist with communications with fishing and general marine traffic encountered during operations to encourage cooperation and minimise disruption for all parties. All personnel have both offshore survival training and medical certification.
OUR COMMITMENT
Close working relationships with our clients ensure that we fully understand and meet their requirements and expectations. Identification of our clients' requirements, with a focus on achieving the clear deliverables increases customer satisfaction and enhances our reputation for excellence.

SINCE 1986
SFF Services Limited has provided a range of vessel and personnel services to the offshore industries.
The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation preserves and promotes the collective interests of its eight Constituent Association members across Scotland. They engage, cooperate, and innovate on matters of science, marine environment management, inshore fisheries management, marine safety regulations and industry training and recruitment programmes.
We aim to share available work as evenly as possible between the member vessels put forward for work, engaging vessels that have been displaced by offshore activities, or who have had normal fishing patterns disrupted, bringing the benefit of local knowledge.
Profits generated are used to fund activity in the promotion and protection of the Scottish fishing industry, helping to support Scotland’s coastal communities.

MEET THE TEAM
Our dedicated team has over 37 years experience in managing a range of vessel projects.

I am responsible for building relationships with offshore marine industries contacts with a view to promoting and marketing the range of services offered by the Company Group as well as overseeing and supporting the company’s operational activities.
In a SFF offshore liaison capacity, involved in regular dialogue/discussion with other users of the sea, government departments, environmental and other marine interests in relation to exploration, development, operational and decommissioning activities around the Scottish coasts to protect the interests of the commercial fishing industry.
I joined SFF Services Limited in 1996.

I joined the Company in 2012 after graduating with a MA and MLitt in Modern History from the University of Aberdeen. I have also completed the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. There’s never a dull moment in the Operations Team and I enjoy the variety of challenges that come our way.

Assisting with the organisation of operational activities to ensure timely completion of client specifications.
I joined SFF Services from Inverurie Academy in 2014 originally in a temporary position as Administration Assistant. Coming from a non-fishing background, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working in and learning about the industry as I have progressed through to my current role. I recently obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management at Robert Gordon University.

I have been involved in the fishing industry for over 35 years, gaining my Certificate of Competency Class II aged 20, and owner and skipper of vessels for over 20 years. I feel fortunate to have worked with the SFF since 2019.

My family has fishing roots dating back decades and my great-grandfather and grandfather owned fishing vessels. Following in their footsteps, I learned the skills to become a skipper, purchasing vessels which I named ‘Daisy’ and ‘Daisy 2’. I sold the vessel in 2015 and utilised my skillset to become a tugboat skipper, whilst qualifying as a marine pilot. The lure of the sea came calling again in 2019 before I accepted a role with SFF in 2023.

I create a range of engaging marketing materials across print, web and socials.
I am a BA (hons) graduate in Design & Craft from Gray’s School of Art at The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. I have over 15 years’ experience as a marketing and design professional working in a variety of industries across the UK from large retailers, transport providers, exhibition venues, home builders and now use my skills to promote the Scottish fishing industry.
SFF Services Ltd is a subsidiary of the Scottish Fishermen's Federation, and also supports Marine Environmental Solutions.
